Before the session | ֍ Please wear old clothes and shoes.
֍ You’ll find working with clay easier if you cut your fingernails short, tie back long hair, and remove jewellery on your hands and wrists. ֍ Look at some photos of previous attendees’ work to gather inspiration. ֍ Charge your phone or camera to capture some memories of the day and shots of your work in progress. |
During the session | ֍ In the morning your tutor will give you an introduction to preparing clay, centring clay on the wheel, and wheel throwing bowls and cylinders.
֍ In the afternoon you can choose to continue refining your technique on the wheel or try hand-building techniques including slab building, pulling a handle and coiling. ֍ You might make several small bowls on the wheel, and a mug, jug, vase or pen pot whilst hand-building – the choice is yours! ֍ At the end of the day, you will be shown a selection of different coloured glazes and choose which you would like applied to up to 5 of the pieces you make on the day. If you wish to have more than 5 pieces fired and glazed, you may do so at an additional cost of £5.00 for each extra piece. |
After the session | ֍ Pieces will be fired, glazed and fired again, and will be ready for collection 1 month after the day you attended and held for a maximum of 6 months.
֍ Once glazed, you can use your pots for food and drink or anything else you can think of, they are oven proof, microwavable, hand washable and dishwasher safe. ֍ Unfortunately, we cannot post items to you, but friends and family can collect pots on your behalf. |
